Quarantine. Nailed it.

Every time I’m on social media I see photos of people getting all their Spring cleaning done, exploring remote and beautiful chunks of outside, and doing fun and creative projects as they entertain and school their little ones. Just in case you don’t feel like you’re one of the ones out there killin’ it during this quarantine, I want to offer this up to you; solidarity.

This is month number three of lying as flat as possible because this stubborn spinal fluid leak won’t heal. I can’t be upright more than a couple of minutes without horrendous pain, and puking my guts out. That means Spring cleaning, nature exploring, and crafty projects are not happening in this house. The main man is juggling working from home as well as handling feeding the offspring and running any essential errands, I am making my first grader crawl up onto my bed so I can do homeschool lying down, and everyone is generally running amuck outside as well as consuming far too much screen time because, well, life right now. And guess what? We’re all going to be ok.

We all need to give ourselves a little grace and realize we are each doing the best we can. We are adapting and learning to overcome new challenges all while still embracing every good grace we can find and loving our people fiercely with all we’ve got. It doesn’t matter if you’re cooking a five course meal every night, or struggling through online learning in your pajamas every day, because no one gets to judge you. Do you.

Keep fighting, even when it’s facedown from bed. We’ll get there.

Please leave me a comment, it lets me know you’re listening!

  1. DANG. I’m praying for total and complete healing of that spinal fluid leak right now. Speaking it to the heavenlies and to the earth. The earth may groan but it has to bow it’s knee as we stand. And I’m standing right now that healing is taking place there and other places in your body. In JESUS name. Love you Hannah.

    1. Ok, test worked. Yay! Just to let you know, I have been home even before the quarantine. I have a home health nurse who comes in once a week. For a few weeks longer, there’s a therapist to help me get strength back to walk. I still have this awful pain in my left side that I fight with everyday. All this I’ve given over to the Lord, and I must “Be still and know that He is God.” I pray for you every day and I love you as my sister in Christ. We will get through all of this, Patience is part of Love. Right now, I concentrate on my life in Christ and what pleases Him. We all should be doing the best we can in our own circumstances. Hope for better tomorrows. Thanks again for your encouraging words from where you are.

  3. So I came home on Wed March 30 2022 from having my vpshunt put in. We still have no idea what caused all this. Today I was back in the er because of vertigo like symptoms and being unable to hold anything down. Given meds and sent home. Does anyone know if this normal after having one? I have no idea what to expect now or what to watch for. I was feeling very alone until I found this.

    1. Your body has been through something pretty big. Give yourself permission to rest and heal; it’s going to take some time. Now that you have a shunt unexplained nausea/vomiting/headaches will always be something to pay attention to, but shouldn’t be a regular thing. Your body may still be adjusting to everything. Praying for you tonight that you find comfort, rest, and peace as you heal.
